The ESS facility in Bilbao will be the base for one of the largest science infraestructures on the European Union Roadmap of Large Science Facilities in the next few decades. The agreement between Spain and Sweden will permit the undertaking of a common project resulting in one sole candidacy for two locations, the headquarters in Lund and a Sub Headquarters in Bilbao. Spain will therefore have an important science facility that will greatly boost the scientific and technological capacity of the Basque Country
